MEET ATTORNEY TAMEKA WEST

Attorney Tameka West’s commitment to fairness and legal excellence is rooted in her own journey.

From overcoming early barriers in Mississippi to serving Clayton County as a Judge in the past and now Staff Attorney for the Board of Commissioners, her “core principles” centers on judicial integrity, timely access to justice, and ensuring every individual has a meaningful opportunity to be heard. A pivotal moment came during Freshman orientation at Clark Atlanta University, when Dean of the Honors Program, seeing her potential, declared, “You’re going to be one of CAU’s biggest investment,” awarding her a full 4-year scholarship. This act of faith shaped her belief that “To Whom Much Is Given, Much Is Required,” and everyone deserves a fair opportunity to be seen and heard.

 

Attorney West is known for her unwavering focus on efficiency, procedural integrity, and accountability. She believes that justice delayed is justice denied. Attorney West’s main objective would be to streamline processes, so citizens are not lost within a system meant to serve them.

 

Attorney West’s approach centers on due process, clarity, and efficiency, ensuring each individual receives a meaningful opportunity to be heard while maintaining strict adherence to the law. Her leadership reflects a belief that when the courts function efficiently, disputes are timely resolved between the parties, and the entire community experiences a higher quality of life. Professional Experience & Judicial Service

Leadership, Service & Community Engagement

Attorney West is active in professional and community leadership roles. She will serve as President-Elect of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) in 2026, and has held several positions within the organization, including Vice-President, Parliamentarian, and Chair of the Judicial Review Committee.

Attorney West also previously served as Vice-Chair of the Development Authority of Clayton County. In 2025, Attorney West joined the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council, which supports local economic development, with a focus on improving the quality of lives for Clayton County residents. Attorney West is a scholarship recipient and graduate of Clark Atlanta University and the University of Iowa, College of Law. She has also completed leadership programs through the State Bar of Georgia, Young Lawyers Division, and Leadership Clayton. Attorney West is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
